My “new” novel, The Broken Company, was originally published several years ago as Honor Lost, which I wrote in 2008 during a deployment to Iraq. It was the first novel I ever wrote and attempted to publish. When I couldn’t find a traditional publisher to take it, I eventually self-published it on Amazon. I had no idea how to market it, or myself however, and eventually I attempted to publish it through a company. It didn’t work out for a number of reasons, so I took it down again. Eventually, after learning a bit about the industry while working with great people at Cannon Publishing who published my Arthurian trilogy about Peredur (Percival) I decided to take another crack at it. I give it a new title, a new cover, and revised it a bit.

In the process of those revisions, I made a series of images with AI that I use as references while I write, to make sure I keep track of what my characters look like, how old they’re supposed to be, etc. Eventually, if/when I hand these books off to a narrator (probably Jon Waters, who’s done an excellent job on my Peredur trilogy) I can then turn these images over to him to help him develop fitting voices for the cast. So here’s some of those images that I made. Most of them had sketches I drew back in 2008 and then had AI render new images based on those sketches, but a few are purely done with AI prompts.
